Making Bulleyes (Portholes)

This article can conflict with the offer from the shop… but BoatModelling.com is mainly about ship modelling itself so, it is up to you either to buy ready made bulleyes with cool rivets wholes, or make something close to it by yourself. You are the judge and it is your model you are taking care of. There are always pros and cons.

Here’s what I did when building my ship.

I got myself brass pipes with different diameters e.g. outside 6mm and inside 5mm. From that decent pipe I cut out 1.5-2 mm rings.

Then you nicely file them, especially from the outside, and finally glue them into the hatch or door. Actually, if drilled holes are accurate you do not even have to glue anything, all nicely fits by itself.

Sometimes bulleyes do not have rivets outside, so that method could be quite useful, and is extremely simple as you can see.
