The work is slowly moving on, the deckhouse master (called 'plug') is ready. It was covered with balsa and then with 50g/m2 fibre glass and epoxy resin. Then it is only filler and painting. Green colour is completely accidental. It is simply easier to paint with some darker paint where all inaccuracies are well visible. This green lack was a left over after deck painting. The mould has been coated 5 times. Each one sanded with wet water paper 600 and then 800. Last layer is without sanding. It looks like a mirror.
The plugs went for seasoning for 3 weeks and to let the paint fully dry. Then I added edge surfaces from plywood covered with self-adhesive foil. The foil is only to avoid the painting. Vertical wall is where the form will be divided. The plugs have been waxed. Six coats of flooring wax, as can be seen and each coat polished, will protect the plug. Towards the end I will also put a layer of Polyvinylic alcohol which creates very thin coat similar to a delicate film that really helps to take the plug from the mould.
