Body plan fully redrawn
I started off with correcting the hull’s lines. I assumed (correctly) that plans drawn manually in 60s were not 100% accurate. Scanned versions of plans were loaded into PC and combined lines of Wodnik and Roter Löwe paved the way to my lines of Wodnik.

The plan includes locations of masts, bulkheads avoiding gun ports, of course gun ports’ location themselves. Using this drawing I also designed the keel. The time I spent drawing body plan was well spent plan, later I realized that assembling the skeleton where all parts were fitting to each other as designed.

Main plan
The length of the model in 1:50 scale is 60 cm, height will be also around 60 cm.

I am experimenting a bit with model hoping all will end up well.

Experiment number one - I modified typical plank-on-bulkhead method while building the skeleton. Of course I use bulkheads, but instead of attaching them to plywood hull plate I used wooden plank called “construction plank”. Not my idea, I read about that in modelling magazine. This construction plank in my case is of 4x2 cm profile and is located around water line. For the plank I used solid pine wood 100% straight. Skeleton built that way is 100% true.

Experiment two - I was thinking about material for bulkheads, and be default you think about plywood. I had some birch and beech plywood sheets, but one was too thick, the other not fully straight and too thin. One day in the office I found old not used advertisements boards covered with some posters. But under the posters you could find decent 5 mm PCV boards 60x80 cm! I though they would be perfect material for bulkheads. So I cut out all my bulkheads from PCV and I must say that material is a perfect, wooden planks stick to it really well with cyan acrylic  glues.

More or less in parallel I have drawn and cut out keel’s parts. It was more for fun than from the actual requirement as I would not need the keel for a while anyway. Perhaps I wanted to check my abilities to make something out of old log of African walnut. Using band saw I cut out 5 mm thick planks and then with scroll cut our the keel itself. With Dremel power tool with attached flexi shaft I engraved small rabbet.

I was quite pleased with the result.
