African Sapeli is a fairly common hardwood exported to many countries. Sapeli is heavier and harder than African mahogany and Honduran mahogany and it is a little finer textured. The well quartered sets will often show the characteristic striping or ribbon effect which is the result of interlocking grain. Sapeli is easy to work with although some care should be taken when bending the sides.
