...things did change over winter, the old A-frame was removed and a new one fabricated, this one actually works.

A-frame carrying out its first deployment

the submarine, Mr Lobster, a model based around the shinkai 6500, and part of the Junior range by Graupner.

The A-frame was later clad over and its wires run down the inside of one iof the tubes...

phew, catch up done now.

with the cladding stage complete, with the sub also painted, this is how Nord Icelandia looks now. the A-frame still needs more paint on it to make an even coat.

Quite interesting Gohst.
Can you say wee bit more about the materials and the size.

I see the hull is made of plywood of some sort. At least looks like. If that is wood in fact. How did you later protect it against water?

Superstructure, also what material are you using?
Cheers

The hull, measuring around 900mm in length, and about 150mm in beam, is indeed a soft timber, protected against water by a layer of fibreglass resin, it was like that when I brought it. first thing I did was give the fibreglass a rub down to smooth it off, then spray it with primer, then a top coat of red. 3 coats of primer, 3 coats of gloss.

The superstructure is fabricated from styrene, though a block of 50mm x 25mm pine is used to form the bridge, and act as a key to keep it as square and true as possible.
