After very long break... well over a year I came back to Zenit. I am not abandoning Wodnik. I simply want to finish one model for the exhibition in Vienna that will take place in the end of March.

Started slowly with catching up of what was prepared before. Today I glued together etched tumblers...

Cleaned and sanded down resin casted life boats, and sprayed them with undercoat to see more things to correct:

Finally for today I took etched sides of ladder that will be attached to stern mast. Placed the 0.3 pieces of brass between small planks and soldered in the steps:

This is how it will look like:

Cheers

Not much time to work on the model. I am mainly etching like crazy to fulfil the orders

However I still try to find some time also to work on my stuff.
Recently I turned life rings out of polystyrene sheets - 1 mm thick. I did not have thicker at home, so I glued the squares together. Then I placed them on self made threaded piece of rod and got myself life rings.

Also in the meanwhile. Some may remember I had issues bringing old fridge compressor back to Vienna, when the case got lost. This is that compressor:

Now on eBay I got also 2nd hand exsikkator for my future vacuum chamber

Once I move to new flat and will have March exhibition behind me, I will start building my vacuum pump and chamber.

Slowly, bit by bit but ahead.
I still have hopes I will be able to finish her before end of March. Fool's hope

Anyway, in between etching sessions, and after 3-4 total disastrous attempts and I have finally built two tops of the ventilators. I was trying different materials i.e. card, polyester, PCV. Even tried to turn them on my primitive lathe. Ended up building small jig and soldered the thing together. Brass 0.2 mm. Their diameter is 13.5 mm.

Cheers
